Spray Painter Team Leader

The main role and responsibility of the Team Lead for the paint department is to perform a full range of operations involving the planning and coordination of paint related activities including preparation, painting/priming, curing, and detailing of surfaces of manufactured parts. The Team Lead will play a key role to ensure full compliance to quality and ISO/AS9100 standards, customer specifications/documentation, health & safety regulations, and in house operating procedures and scheduling.

Lead/Supervise the preparation, painting, and detailing of manufactured parts by managing work flow, determining production priorities and processing/cures times, and staff to ensure scheduling deadlines are met to accomplish job results in a timely and cost effective manner
Coordinate with Inspection to ensure full compliance with quality and customer documentation/specifications; including in process evaluation of paint schematics involving mix ratios, application, thickness, and cure profiles using paint related measuring tools/devices/gauges
Support the implementation of Health & Safety Programs; including an overall evaluation and monitoring of services and operations to ensure conformity/compliance to regulations/policy/procedure
Supervises and maintains a safe work environment at all times by ensuring proper PPE usage by all staff, cleaning and maintenance of spray equipment and spray booth, and general housekeeping
Works with Facilities Manager to ensure the proper and safe handling and disposal of paint related hazardous waste
Inventory management of paint supplies, equipment, and related PPE
Facilitates/participates in status meetings with all departments, providing updates are required
Identities opportunities for continuous improvement in part or process
Mentoring and training of staff, including assisting Operations Manager with completion of annual performance reviews, and establishment of employee development and training plans
Positively maintains a team effort
Serves as back-up for paint operations by preparing, painting, and detailing of composite parts as required; activities include: scoring/roughing of surface, masking, stripping, buffing, sanding, grinding, buffing, mixing and spraying of paints/primers; including doing any touch up or repair work
